Teams across the Museum Development Network are supporting the museum sector and workforce throughout the Covid-19 crisis by developing on-line training sessions, webinars and digital learning resources.

Information about various training sessions is updated on individual Museum Development websites. While some of these are stand-alone resources that are not time limited, others are scheduled ‘live’ events that allow participants engagement. Please note that some events are also ticketed or have limited capacity.

Museums Galleries Scotland has shifted relevant elements of their established Knowledge Exchange programme to online sessions, diversifying the offer to include more content, focused on personal resilience – wellbeing, mental health as well as financial management, and other forms of organisational support. This is in addition to a programme of collections, learning, volunteer and skills advice which is currently being developed.

Northern Ireland Museums Council will be delivering on-line training for the foreseeable future. Topics include creating C-19 secure loan boxes, consulting with families, and access workshops.

Regional Museum Development teams in England have developed a comprehensive offer of learning opportunities for the sector. These range from collaborative on-line programmes with Collections Trust to recorded webinars on Accreditation and business planning in a crisis.

There are also e-learning modules to develop skills and leadership, support for museums with social media skills to reach new audiences during lockdown and stand alone digital resources to explore.
